Nichiren Daishonin writes: “But now
the Lotus Sutra has opened up and merged the two types of teachings, one for the instruction and conversion of others and the other pertaining to the Buddha’s enlightenment, so that it is lacking in nothing. It is like a bird with two wings that flies without hindrance.
